Reactor Plant Performance Analysis Engineer Role at Rolls Royce SMR

Progressive GE are supporting Rolls Royce SMR in the search for a Reactor Plant Performance Analysis Engineer to work on innovative Small Modular Reactor (SMR) projects at their Manchester City Centre HQ, Warrington or Derby sites in the United Kingdom.

Role Overview:

As a Reactor Plant Performance Analysis Engineer, you will be immersed in a dynamic environment where you will apply your expertise to analyze, ensure & enhance the operational performance and safety of SMR technology.

As a Reactor Plant Performance Analysis Engineer, you will model fluid and thermal systems that extract power from the nuclear core and ensure safe operation of the reactor. This will involve producing models and analyses that demonstrate operation of the reactor, and working closely with system designers to optimise the design of the plant and its safety systems to maximise safety, performance, and value for money. Analysis outputs form a key input to the safety case and support the overall substantiation of the power station design.

Detailed Responsibilities of Reactor Plant Performance Analysis Engineer:

  • Utilize advanced thermal hydraulic methods to conduct in-depth analysis of reactor plant systems, ensuring optimal performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Apply your Python programming capabilities to develop and refine data analysis tools and automate processes, enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of our systems evaluations.
  • Employ cutting-edge thermal analysis software, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to conduct detailed evaluations of system performance under various operational scenarios.
  • Compile and synthesize analytical findings into comprehensive reports, providing actionable insights that inform strategic decisions and facilitate significant efficiency enhancements across multiple platforms.

Required Skills & Expertise for Reactor Plant Performance Analysis Engineer Role:

  • Mechanical Engineering or Physics Degree
  • Previous ThermoFluids / Thermal Analysis / Thermal Hydraulic Analysis experience of safety-critical applications in regulated industries such as Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Aerospace, Energy etc
  • Experience using engineering industry Computational Fluid Dynamics, Standard fluids & Thermal Analysis Software such as ANSYS, STAR-CCM, FLOMASTER, Relap etc.
  • Experience of developing analysis methods, models & tools and assurance of analysis codes and methods

For the successful Reactor Plant Performance Analysis Engineer, a salary of up to £52,500 is on offer along with the following benefits:

  • Bonus - Performance related bonus
