Mechanical Technician – CCGT Power Station

MC Technical Recruitment are currently seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the maintenance department of a large gas fired power station just outside of Manchester. The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the planning and execution of mechanical maintenance work across the site to ensure minimum downtime.

As the Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Day to day maintenance and fault-finding work on a wide range of mechanical plant equipment including pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors etc
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the site CMMS
  • Assisting with outage planning and execution
  • Providing technical support to the operations team when required
  • Working alongside other Technicians and Engineers with regards to plant projects and upgrades
  • Supervising and managing contractors when required
  • Being part of an on-call system

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • A relevant engineering qualification at HNC/ONC level, ideally in mechanical engineering or similar
  • At least 4 years of post-apprenticeship experience working in the maintenance department of a heavy process plant e.g. power station, EFW, biomass, chemical plant, refinery, paper mill etc
  • Experience carrying out maintenance and repair work on pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors and other rotating machinery
  • Ideally experience managing and directing contractors
  • A good understanding of all HSE aspects
