Our client, a leading player in the food industry, is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join their Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee all technical functions, ensuring exceptional standards in food safety, quality, compliance, specifications, and NPD. You will be responsible for maintaining the company’s Grade AA* BRC accreditation, ensuring high levels of food safety, legality, hygiene, and TACCP standards are consistently met, while driving continuous improvement across the business.

Technical ManagerKey Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all technical functions, including food safety, quality, legal compliance, specifications, NPD, and hygiene, ensuring business objectives and KPIs are met.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams (Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, NPD, Supplier Auditing) to drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Provide technical expertise and solutions to food safety and quality issues, and support Crisis Management as required.
- Oversee customer and third-party approvals, food safety systems, hygiene standards, and due diligence practices.
- Manage and track KPIs for both the department and customer satisfaction.
- Handle and resolve customer complaints, consumer complaints, supplier complaints, NC reporting, audit findings, and non-conformities.
- Ensure robust quality checks across raw materials, packaging, and finished goods, in line with legal and best practice standards.
- Manage microbiological monitoring and oversee corrective actions as trends dictate.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive food safety training programs to manufacturing and technical teams.
- Ensure compliance with HACCP and BRC Global Food Safety standards.
- Oversee the budget for the Technical Department and manage contracts for services like pest control, laboratories, and calibration.
- Ensure Health & Safety and environmental standards are met across the business.
Technical ManagerSkills & Qualifications:
- Degree or HND/HNC in Food Science/Technology or related field.
- Advanced Food Safety and Food Hygiene qualifications.
- Completed ‘Train the Trainer’ program.
- Lead Assessor qualified.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene legislation, including HACCP.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- At least 2 years of experience in managing a technical function, including Quality, Specifications, and NPD.
