Our client isa well established Manchester city centre based accountancy practice and they are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant or Practice Manager to oversee our daily operations and drive practice efficiency.

The Role

Working directly with our Managing Partner, this key position combines strategic practice management with hands-on operational leadership. You'll be instrumental in driving practice development while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with Managing Partner on practice development initiatives
  • Drive practice efficiency and workflow optimisation
  • Lead and develop both administrative staff and accountants
  • Monitor and manage WIP, including regular partner meetings
  • Oversee practice workflow systems, including VAT returns, accounts and personal tax returns with other compliance deadlines
  • Manage CCH practice management system
  • Monitor and improve practice KPIs
  • Review and approve timesheets and resource allocation
  • Oversee monthly billing processes
  • Ensure effective job progression through all stages
  • Support recruitment and staff development initiatives

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in an accountancy practice environment
  • Proven track record in practice management or senior accountant role
  • Strong knowledge of practice management systems (CCH experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership and development
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Excellence in staff management and development
