About the Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of all aspects of the poultry department, as detailed below:

  • Organise and plan the production for the poultry department on day shifts.
  • Ensure all orders are produced to the correct specification and complete production records.
  • Complete stock rotation and action short dates and ensure that all finished product and work in progress is correctly labelled for traceability with both GRNs and batch codes.
  • Adhere to all Health and safety policies, quality standards, and allergen controls.
  • Ensure that the poultry area, tumbling room, and seasoning areas are kept clean & tidy.
  • Train staff within the poultry department.
  • Administrate holiday shift patterns together with the Factory Manager, ensuring that all necessary cover is in place and liaise with HR regarding timekeeping and absences.

Additional Information

Working hours are Sunday to Thursday 07.00-16.00.

This role will require some flexibility in the working hours to meet the needs of the business.



Essential Skills

No formal qualifications are required for this Poultry Production Manager role, and full training will be provided; however, it would be advantageous if you have supervisory or management experience in a fast-paced operations or production environment and significant experience supervising or managing staff.

  • Experience in the food/meat/poultry industry would be advantageous
  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to lead from the front
  • The ability to develop good working relationships with managers in other areas of the business to deliver common goals in terms of profitability and provision of agreed service levels
  • Willingness to embrace change and develop people within your team
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines
  • A strong commercial understanding of the business
