ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER

IRLAM

£45-£50K DOE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Officer to join this successful and reputable business in the Irlam area.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Overseeing and maintaining the environmental management system in line with ISO 14001 standards, managing non-conformances, and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Delivering internal training on EHS topics, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001, and assessing ongoing environmental training needs within the organization
  • Monitoring and tracking waste, energy, water, and effluent emissions, identifying improvement opportunities, and collaborating with departments to reduce consumption and improve sustainability
  • Supporting internal HSE audits and maintaining an audit schedule for ISO 14001, conducting site walkarounds, and presenting audit results with corrective actions
  • Responding to customer and regulator requests for environmental data and sustainability information, supporting inspections, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
  • Conducting risk assessments, identifying hazards, and recommending mitigation measures to enhance health and safety standards across the organization
  • Assisting with the implementation of health and safety policies, supporting the adoption of ISO 45001, and ensuring adherence to procedures
  • Building strong working relationships across departments to ensure the success of health, safety, and environmental programs and maintaining accurate documentation in line with compliance requirements

The ideal candidate will;

  • Be Degree-educated in an environmental discipline (or equivalent professional qualifications), with at least 1 year of experience in environmental compliance and knowledge of ISO 14001 principles
  • Possess NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification (or higher); ISO Internal Auditor training/experience is desirable
  • Have strong training delivery skills with the ability to motivate staff on environmental and sustainability initiatives
  • Possess excellent administration, time management, and IT skills to support HSE performance and ensure compliance
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, collaborate across departments, and drive continuous improvement and team working towards HSE goals
