We have a fantastic opportunity for a Response and Installation Officer at Manager City Council, this is a full-time temporary role for the next 5 months.

What is the role?

Manchester City Council are looking for a Response and Installation Officer, to work as part of the Community Alarm team and will contribute to the provision of a high-quality service which supports people to help them remain safe and independent in their in their homes. You will monitor and respond to alerts in relation to the customer’s health and safety, commissioning other services where appropriate to ensure the wellbeing of service users.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Monitor and respond to activation alerts which are triggered by customer’s equipment, ensuring that responses are within agreed service guidelines and targets.
  • Communicate with customers, in an efficient and courteous manner, to assess their needs and use initiative and creative skills to respond appropriately to problems that arise.
  • Where necessary, install, maintain and collect approved equipment within customers’ homes to a high standard.
  • Work collaboratively with customers, their families or nominated contact, colleagues, stakeholders, health and emergency services staff to enhance the customer’s safety, experience and the delivery of the service.
  • Maintain the efficient monitoring and administration of appropriate computer systems ensuring compliance with clarity, accuracy and confidentiality of data.
  • Facilitate customer feedback and assist in identifying solutions to resolve issues to improve service delivery. Feedback any compromise in service or safety of staff or service users immediately to a line manager.
  • Drive the active promotion of the service through attendance and contribution to meetings, forums and promotional events.

What skills do you Need?

  • Must have recent experience of working as a Response and Installation Officer, or experience within care/security would also be suitable.
  • Must be physically fit and healthy, as you may need to help assist service users
  • Excellent people skills, as you will be speaking to the public, other members of staff and managers.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Valid Standard DBS on the update service
  • Happy to work on a rota basis, working early / late and night shifts including weekends
  • 18 week rolling rota working 35 hours per week over the 18 weeks, typically 2 early shifts, 2 late shifts and 2 nights then 4 days off. 
  • There is a 'floater' shift in the middle of some weeks which can be allocated as any shift but will 10 days' notice but always in keeping with working time directive e.g. if they are allocated a night shift but are on a late shift the next day the start time will be amended to 6pm (this is only done when we have no other option to cover the service)
  • Shift times: Early 06:45-15:33 / Late 14:45-23:33 / Night 22:15-07:03
