We are seeking a dedicated School Admissions Officer to manage the admissions process for mainstream primary and secondary schools, as well as Academies, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and City Council policies. This role is pivotal in negotiating and securing school placements for children with complex needs and providing essential admissions-related advice to parents, carers, and educational institutions.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Organise meetings and calendars, cover minutes of the meetings.
  • Arrange pupil admissions to schools and Academies in line with statutory requirements and policies.
  • Act as the main contact for admissions-related advice to parents/carers and schools/Academies, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain accurate records of school/academy vacancies, manage waiting lists, and handle oversubscription criteria.
  • Identify and allocate reasonable alternative offers to applicants who do not receive their preferred school place.
  • Monitor the whereabouts of children of statutory school age who refuse school offers, referring cases to the attendance service as necessary.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in an educational administration or school admissions role.
  • Ability to negotiate, manage complex cases and maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
