Your next employer is looking for a Marketing and Communications Officer to join their team within a medical professional body and charity, whose purpose is to help further educate healthcare professionals. The Marketing and Communications Officer will help the societys exposure to their existing 16,000 and prospective members - all of whom are dedicated to help save lives.

This is a part time opportunity, offering you 30 hours per week with flexible working options in central Manchester. You will be offered a salary of 30,000 pro rata, with the flexibility to choose when you work your hours and where, depending on business needs. We are looking for anyone who has experience in within Marketing and Communications, and who are based in a commutable distance to Manchester city centre.

This position will give you a once in a lifetime experience to join a medical professional body that requires no existing experience within the sector. Providing high quality training, education, and research, your next company provides innovative advancements across a range of medical professions. From students entering the field, right through to retired nurses, doctors and specialists who like to keep up to date with the latest news.


What will you be doing as a Marketing and Communications Officer?

  • Develop annual communications work plan and take ownership of these activities over the year with the purpose of expanding the societys exposure to its medical audiences.
  • Manage the societys social media accounts, providing a valuable up-to-date resource for members, as well as marketing to non-members by having a strong online presence.
  • Act as a production editor to the memberships magazine, while working with external providers for artwork and design for newsletters, publications, emails and journals.
  • Arrange and attend meetings to the committee to produce the committees magazines.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite programmes to create artwork for promotional items and adverts.
  • You will be responsible for the marketing and communications of annual conferences, award ceremonies, and events with the aim to increase attendance while reviewing the effectiveness of campaigns.
  • Manage the day-to-day content on the website.
  • Occasional creation of webinars materials, Zoom/Team meetings, and recordings for marketing purposes.
  • Distribute effective email marketing messages by creating content and templates.
  • Help with monitoring and reviewing the performance of the society, key variances, and the actions to improve performance.


We would LOVE to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience within marketing, communication, PR and/or journalism role, or alternatively relative qualifications.
  • Knowledge of print production, desktop publishing, and/or working with designers/printers.
  • Working experience of web-based systems.
  • Experience creating publications and website content, including excellent editorial, clear and engaging copy writing with proof reading skills.
  • Prior experience in desktop publishing/graphic design with use of social media.
  • Experience working in health, not-for-profit or membership sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Able to commute to the city centre of Manchester near the hospitals.
