The role:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our dynamic engineering project team. In this role, you will support the timely and accurate processing of employee payroll and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies. Reporting to the Management Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining payroll records, processing statutory payments, assisting with payroll reporting, and providing excellent support to employees. This role is based from our Irlam office, 5 days in the office Monday to Friday. 

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing & Administration

  • Assist in preparing and processing payroll across multiple pay cycles for employees.
  • Assisting and preparing international payroll for our overseas colleagues.
  • Accurately input and maintain payroll data, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, and deductions.
  • Process statutory payments such as sick pay, maternity/paternity pay, and other entitlements.
  • Support monthly and year-end payroll processes.
  • Assist in administering workplace pension schemes.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Support payroll reconciliations, audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with payroll regulations and company policies.
  • Work closely with the wider team to ensure accurate payroll reporting and data integrity.

Employee Support & Communication

  • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all payroll-related tasks.

Person Specification:

Qualifications, Experience, and Personal Attributes:

  • Previous experience in payroll administration or as a payroll assistant is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, legislation, and best practices.
  • CIPP Level 3 or equivalent certification is desirable but not essential.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A team player with a proactive and collaborative approach.
