Here at Careermakers we are looking for a skilled and experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial gas systems in various settings, including schools, hospitals, offices, and industrial buildings. You will ensure all work is completed to the highest safety standards, in compliance with relevant regulations, and deliver excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation and Maintenance:

    • Install, service, and repair commercial gas systems, including boilers, heating systems, and other gas appliances in commercial properties.
    • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on heating and gas systems.
    • Diagnose and resolve faults or issues related to gas systems, ensuring timely repairs and minimizing downtime.
  • Gas Safety and Compliance:

    • Conduct safety inspections and ensure that gas systems comply with relevant gas safety regulations and building codes (e.g., Gas Safe, Health and Safety standards).
    • Complete gas safety certificates and associated documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure all work meets legal, health, and safety standards and is completed in line with company policies.
  • Customer Service:

    • Provide a high standard of customer service, ensuring that clients are informed of work progress and any issues that arise.
    • Work closely with clients to ensure their heating and gas systems are running efficiently and recommend any necessary improvements or upgrades.
    • Respond promptly to emergency call-outs and out-of-hours service requests when required.
  • Teamwork and Communication:

    • Collaborate with other engineers, contractors, and office staff to complete projects efficiently and on time.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers or apprentices as needed.
    • Maintain clear communication with customers and internal teams regarding job updates, safety concerns, and work completion.
  • Equipment and Tool Maintenance:

    • Ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are well-maintained and meet safety standards.
    • Keep accurate records of work carried out, including parts used and time spent on each job.
Key Requirements:
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience working as a Commercial Gas Engineer, with a solid understanding of commercial gas systems and heating installations.
  • Qualifications and Certifications:

    • Current Gas Safe Registration (required).
    • Relevant commercial gas qualifications, including COCN1, CODNCO1, ICPN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, and TPCP1/TPCP1A.
    • NVQ Level 3 in Gas Engineering or equivalent (desirable).
    • Full, clean UK driving license (required).
  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of commercial heating and gas systems, including fault-finding and diagnostics.
    • Familiarity with a wide range of commercial gas appliances, including boilers, plant rooms, and HVAC systems.
    • Understanding of Health & Safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks.
