My client is prestigious law firm with nearly 40 years of experience providing exceptional legal services to clients across the UK. Specialising in housing litigation, we are passionate about advocating for tenants living in substandard conditions and holding landlords accountable.About the Role:

As the Deputy Compliance Officer for Legal Practice, you will be an integral part of our Risk & Compliance team. Working closely with the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), you'll play a key role in ensuring the firm adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements, supporting the firm's continued success and growth.Key Responsibilities

  • Support the COLP in managing claims, complaints, and data subject access requests (DSARs).
  • Assist in mitigating regulatory risks and ensuring compliance with the firm's policies, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Client Due Diligence (CDD).
  • Maintain and update central risk registers (e.g., complaints, professional indemnity notifications).
  • Collaborate with other departments on various compliance and risk management projects.
  • Conduct file reviews and ad-hoc research in relation to risk management.
  • Keep abreast of changes in legal and regulatory requirements that impact the firm.

Ideal candidate

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in litigation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with case management systems (experience with Proclaim is advantageous).
  • Knowledge of compliance and risk management in the legal sector.
  • A client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with senior management and partners.

Experience

  • Housing disrepair experience is desirable, but not essential.
  • Solid understanding of compliance and risk issues within a legal environment.
  • IT literate, with proficiency in legal software and systems.
