Bookmark Education are working with a Primary School in Cheetham Hill who are looking for a suitable candidate to work with a pupil in Year 5 with with Social Emotional Mental Health needs.

The school is located in Cheetham Hill (M8) and the role is full time to start January until the end of the academic year, Mon-to-Friday term time only.

You will be working 1:1 with a pupil in Year 5 who has an EHCP for Social Emotional Mental Health needs. The child is a lovely, funny and chatty boy when regulated, but needs focussed support to help keep him regulated and to recognised triggers. He can exhibit behaviour that challenges, including oppositional behaviour, refusal to learn and verbal aggression. This is well managed when he is happy and well supported.

To be considered for the role, you need to have experience of working with young people who exhibit behaviours that challenge and that have SEMH needs. You will need to accept this will be a very rewarding role but also be resilient with your support to keep that consistency and continuity of support there for him.

This is an ideal role for someone from a Youth Work, Sports coaching or residential background or previous experience as a SEND TA in a school.

You will be working at the school through Bookmark Education; this is a temporary role initially as it is following the funding in place to support the pupil for the academic year. The school is a very well respected Primary School that is well resourced to support the pupils in the community, it is a mainstream Primary school with a specialist provision on site for pupils with SEMH needs.
