We have been retained by a UK Chemical manufacturing company based in the Greater Manchester area who are looking to recruit a Procurement Manager to join their business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to progress and develop their career further within a well-established SME that is expanding and investing heavily in growth and its staff.
Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Director and managing a small team, you will work cross functionally with internal functions and external suppliers. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Establish a partnership and relationships with a suppliers for a number of key commodities
- Analyse key data on critical items to ensure strong purchasing decisions are made
- Leading the department on daily basis to ensure strategic decisions are made
- Look at supplier selection and supplier management
- Introducing a culture of best practice and continuous improvement within the department
A CIPS, MCIPS or Degree qualified Buyer, Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain professional within a manufacturer, you will be experienced in working collaboratively and cross functionally. You will have experience of purchasing on a commodity basis and any experience in spot buying and strategic negotiation would be an advantage. You will be proven in supplier liaison, building effective relationships and being proactive in terms of controlled material supply. You will be highly self-motivated, looking to progress your career and have a high work ethic. Experience in the chemical sector would be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
