Location: South Manchester with Hybrid Working

We're looking to bring a procurement manager, from the utilities sector to work for this multi-discipline tier one company with interests across multiple sectors.

They've been going through a lot of growth, both organically and via acquisition and have big aspirations, which results in a varied and ambitious working environment.

Based from the South Manchester office (Hybrid working is in place but you'll probably be in the office maybe 3-4 days per week on a flexible basis), this is a people management role that will involve a lot of interface and management both internally via stakeholders across the group but also externally with a range of vendors across the supply chain.

The company have gone through a lot of positive change, and that offers the change to be constantly enhancing and assessing the supply chain, so the overall theme of the role will be geared towards group cost savings, efficiencies and improvements to quality across this group function.

That means selection of suppliers, negotiation of contracts and managing relationships to optimise benefits to the business but in a fair and transparent environment in order to keep the suppliers engaged.

Economies of scale and the associated value will be a big part of the role alongside strategic sourcing including efficiency gained through technology automation and in a data driven environment, you'll be looking to make sure the metrics are in place to make educated decisions which then allows reporting back to the senior leadership team.

Your background:

We are looking for a strong people manager that come from the utilities sector and while we are not insisting on a specific part of utilities, that background is going to be essential for the role.

Qualifications such as CIPS would be an advantage but the company are a strong investor in people and will look to support a supply chain professional that is looking to keep moving towards chartered status.
