Turner Lovell are recruiting for an international principle contractor who have a pipeline major renewable energy and M&E projects across the UK. They are looking for an experienced Civil Project Manager with extensive civil construction experience to join their growing team leading projects from 10m- 20m in value. You would play a key part in developing the internal civil construction capability for the business.

As Civil Project Manager, your role will be to deliver turnkey projects from civil design, site investigation, construction and building services installation and commissioning. There will be responsibility to oversee adherence to the initial design, consult and approve any changes and to manage the delivery and build of renewable energy and transmission projects.
The ideal candidate will have worked on heavy civil projects with a leading contractor, end client or consulting firm in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage civil projects from 10m to 20m from design to construction completion
  • Manage commercial interfaces during procurement and subcontracting of civil works
  • Proactive management of large civil subcontractors.
  • Manage key stakeholder interfaces between principle contractor, client, in-house teams and subcontractors across UK and Europe.
  • Management of civil construction teams on site
  • Promotion and management of HSE and site-based standards.
  • Manage financial budgets for the civil works on the projects and have sound input into forecasts
  • Provide regular ongoing reports on construction progress, budgets, man power needs and quality issues.
  • Take a lead in resolving performance issues of internal or external teams.



Candidate Specification:

  • Qualifications: BSc, BEng, HNC/HND or NVQ5 in in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Project Management, or related subject.
  • Proactive personality with excellent leadership and project management skills
  • At least 5 years working for a leading engineering, consulting or civil contractor in the UK in a project management role.
  • Extensive UK civil construction and civil engineering project experience at respected contractor
  • Strong understanding of construction methodology, construction quality issues
  • Experience installing building services in construction projects
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and HSE legislation
  • Proven ability to identify issues during the construction phase
  • Knowledge of commercial / contractual issues
  • Strong track record in managing civil subcontractors to stay on programme and budget
  • Excellent management experience with the ability to motivate teams and ensure health and safety is a high priority
  • Proven experience to work under pressure and make decisions independently
  • Good references to verify track record
