The Company:Our client is a fast-paced Homewares company looking to recruit an Assistant Buyer to add to their busy team. They have a great team culture and are looking for a hands on proactive person to support customers and suppliers, jump onto new projects, analyse trade figures, support costings and assist with day to day processes and procedures .The Role:The role will be to provide support to the Buyer DirectorDealing with general day to day correspondence as requiredProcessing sales orders and raising purchase orders with factories in the Far EastLiaising with freight companies to build containersAnalysing sales and stock movements, looking at best and worst sellersSetting up new products on the internal system including costings.Work with Critical Path to ensure prompt deliveries.To maintain buying timelines for production and launch of all new products.Manage communication between China and the UK.Deliver accurate information to the different departments in the business as required.Assist with inputting supplier information, chasing quotes and information from the factories.Maintain the critical path dailyNegotiate pricing & get quotes from new suppliers.Liaise with contacts in China to order samples.Create & maintain strong relationships with both suppliers & customers.Always ensure accuracy in all areas and keep a record of all communications.Other duties as required.Skills Required:Previous experience in a similar role, merchandising and buying.Fully computer literate including Microsoft Office packages, excellent Excel skills and SageAbility to show initiative and prioritise workloads, resolve problems and meet deadlines.Numerate with good written and verbal communication skills.Excellent customer service skills.Tenacious, resilient with a 'can do’ attitude to ensure task completion within timescale.
