We are looking to strengthen our team and appoint a Buyer.The Buyer will be based at our manufacturing site near Manchester

Role and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for purchasing materials, consumables and services in a timely, cost effective manner while maintaining appropriate quality standards and specifications.
  • Source material and place orders for non inventory material and services.
  • Prepare and send purchase requisitions to suppliers to obtain the most competitive quote for raw material, consumables and services to contract requirements. Review quotations received.
  • Negotiate with supplier to ensure the most competitive price is paid for raw material, consumables and services. Negotiate long and short term supply agreements for all materials.
  • Day to day dealing with suppliers in order to develop relationships with key suppliers and build effective partnerships.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policy and terms and conditions.
  • Track purchasing activity to ensure goods are delivered on time.
  • Developing and implement purchasing strategies for products and services maintaining the approved supplier list. Ensure all valid supplier certification is maintained in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Resolve material supply issues on an on-going basis involving internal and external resources.
  • Manage and maintain good orderly records both electronically and hard copies.
  • Regularly review purchase prices to maintain best buying practice.
