Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Manchester

Thorn Baker have teamed up with a leading retrofit company specializing in improving the energy efficiency of homes and buildings across the UK. With a growing portfolio of projects in social housing, residential, and main build sectors, they are looking to expand their team with a skilled and motivated Quantity Surveyor.

As a Quantity Surveyor you will play a vital role in managing the cost aspects of our retrofit projects, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of work within budget. You will work closely with project teams and clients, delivering accurate cost assessments, budgets, and forecasts, while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage cost estimates and budgets for retrofit projects.
  • Provide detailed cost analysis, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit tender documents, andevaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes.
  • Monitor project progress and costs, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Manage contract variations and negotiate final accounts.
  • Ensure all projects are in compliance withbuilding regulations, health & safety standards, and sustainability targets.
  • Support in the preparation of monthly project reports and forecasts.

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the social housing, residential, or main build sectors.
  • A strong understanding of retrofit projects, sustainability standards, and energy efficiency measures.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Experience with cost management software and MS Office Suite.
