They are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join the team working out of our Manchester office and assist with providing a high-quality service to our clients throughout the North West of England. The successful candidate will be an (or working towards) MRICS qualified Chartered Surveyor with an accredited degree in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline. They will have at least 2 years' experience the role involving quantity surveying / design/ contract procedures.

Quantity Surveyor Position Overview
  • Liaise with the Client and the Professional Team to determine the Client's initial requirements and to develop the Client's Brief.
  • Advise the Client on demolition, strip-out, site investigation and enabling works contracts required before the Building Contract and advise on associated procurement of these works.
  • Advise on the cost of the Project. Advise on the cost of alternative design and construction options. (Typically Order of Cost Estimate in case of D&B).
  • Advise on alternative procurement options.
  • Visit the Site. Advise the Client on any factors likely to affect cost, time or method of implementation.
  • Prepare an initial budget estimate to test feasibility proposals and advise on likely effect of market conditions.
  • Prepare a preliminary cost plan and cash flow forecast.
Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements
  • Relevant degree qualification and MRICS qualified essential
  • Constantly portray a professional image to colleagues, clients and other stakeholders in person and in all communications
  • Experience of CDM
  • Good understanding of Construction Contracts; JCT, NEC, PPC
  • Experience of working in the Housing, Public, Health and Education sectors are an advantage
  • Previous experience of supervising staff
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work within project time constraints
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to deal effectively with staff, the client team, contractors.
