About the Role:

My client a reputable firm in the construction consultancy sector, known for delivering high-quality service and excellence. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the Manchester area. The successful candidate will work on a variety of building projects across sectors, contributing to project delivery and financial management, and ensuring value and quality for clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Cost Management: Conduct accurate cost assessments for building projects, from initial estimates to final account settlement.
  • Contract Administration: Administer and manage project contracts, including preparing contract documentation and providing advice on contractual obligations and responsibilities.
  • Tendering & Procurement: Assist in preparing tender documents, review bids, and manage the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Cost Reporting: Monitor and report on project costs and cash flow, ensuring project costs remain within budget.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage project risks to ensure financial efficiency and risk minimization.
  • Valuations & Payments: Perform regular valuations and certifications of completed work and manage subcontractor payments.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with clients, contractors, and project teams to provide commercial insight and support informed decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, ideally within the building and construction sector.
  • Professional Qualification: RICS membership or working towards chartership is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in industry-standard software (such as Excel, CostX, or CATO).
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective client and team interactions.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of construction methods, materials, building regulations, and health & safety standards.
