Senior Quantity Surveyor - 400 per day - 12-Month Contract - Manchester - High-Rise Residential

With an in-house construction model backed by a leading developer, they are driving forward some of the most ambitious high-rise schemes in the city.

Your new role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a flagship high-rise project in Manchester, valued at 100 million. This is a 12-month freelance contract, offering 400 per day, with a strong likelihood of extension based on project pipeline and performance. You'll play a key role in the commercial delivery of a major residential scheme, working closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful financial management of the build.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading all commercial aspects of the 100m high-rise development from inception through to final account

  • Managing subcontractor procurement, contract negotiation, and package awards

  • Overseeing cost reporting, forecasting, and change management processes

  • Managing monthly valuations, variations, and payment applications

  • Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving measures

  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff

  • Liaising with project teams, design consultants, and client representatives

  • Ensuring contractual compliance and maintaining accurate project records

What you will need to succeed:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale residential or high-rise projects

  • Strong working knowledge of JCT contract forms

  • Excellent commercial acumen and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines

  • Effective communication and negotiation skills

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline

  • Availability to start within the next 2-4 weeks
