Senior Quantity Surveyor - Growing CAT A & B Contractor

An established and expanding CAT A & B contractor is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their ambitious team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a company with a strong pipeline of projects and a reputation for delivering high-quality commercial builds.



The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of multiple construction projects. You will be joining a collaborative and driven team of Quantity Surveyors, working on a diverse portfolio of projects, including new-build rail developments, offices, and public buildings.

Your responsibilities will evolve as you gain experience, starting with assisting senior team members and progressing to running projects independently from inception to completion.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets for projects.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, including issuing tenders, negotiating contracts, and finalizing agreements.
  • Monitor project cost control, ensuring financial targets are met while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Evaluate and manage variations, claims, and change orders.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress, validate work completed, and report on financial performance.
  • Prepare and submit valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
  • Work closely with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Assist in identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
  • Contribute to financial reporting and forecasting for ongoing projects.


Requirements:

  • BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying or a related field within the built environment.
  • Experience working with a private contractor in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and cost management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
