Your new role
We are currently looking for a Supervisory Laboratory Aide within the Lab Services department at the Institute. The aim of this post is to be part of a team providing high quality support services to the laboratory areas across the site alongside providing day-to-day supervision of the Laboratory Aides. You will deputise for the Lab Services Manager as required.
- Use the online ordering software to maintain supplies and service contracts. Support Engineers to Lab Services as required
- Supply clear communication between the Lab Services team and the lab groups across site.
- Train other staff as required
- Assist with laboratory health and safety
- Assist in maintaining equipment and supplies
- Assist in ensuring smooth day-to-day running of the group.
- Assist with general laboratory administration.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues and/or customers as required.

What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience of supervising others- Experience of working as part of a team in a similar role involving significant manual handling
- Attention to detail when working around laboratories and scientists
- Understanding of the importance of Health and Safety, and accuracy to detail when doing lab work
- Able to handle industrial equipment and transportation of heavy loads.
