Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Civils Site Manager to join our team, specializing in Groundworks. As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all on-site operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. The Site Manager will coordinate with subcontractors, manage site teams, and ensure effective resource allocation to deliver groundwork packages, including excavation, drainage, piling, and external works. As the Site Manager, you will also play a critical role in maintaining safety compliance and quality assurance. The successful Site Manager will be expected to lead teams confidently and handle project challenges efficiently. A strong Site Manager is key to the success of our civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day site operations for groundwork activities such as drainage, foundations, earthworks, cut & fill, piling, utilities, and external works.
  • Oversee site safety and ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards.
  • Plan and schedule project activities, coordinating with project management, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure timely progress.
  • Ensure that the work is delivered in accordance with technical specifications, project drawings, and construction standards.
  • Monitor and control project costs, ensuring efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, identify risks, and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and stakeholders, providing progress reports and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Manage and mentor site personnel, ensuring that teams are motivated, trained, and performing effectively.
  • Ensure timely completion of paperwork, including method statements, risk assessments, progress reports, and other site documentation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing civil engineering projects with a focus on groundworks.
  • Strong knowledge of groundwork techniques such as excavation, drainage, utilities, piling, foundations, slab work, retaining walls, and external works.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and a direct labor force.
  • Excellent understanding of HSEQ regulations and best practices.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools such as MS Project, Asta Powerproject, or similar.
  • Valid SMSTS, CSCS card, and First Aid at Work certification.
  • Experience working in highways, infrastructure, or large-scale civils groundworks projects is an advantage.
  • Full UK driving license.
