Primary Water Treatments LTD is a leading provider of Water Treatment Services. We are dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of water safety and sustainability. Operating in the Greater Manchester area, we have led industry specific innovation and research over the last 20 years which has culminated in the development of carbon reducing patented processes.

This continued development led us to create our own laboratory two years ago, and planned expansion has facilitated this exciting new role to support our current Laboratory technician and quality controller. This position would suit a team player, with good organisational skills who would thrive in a family-owned business environment- with the exciting career opportunities this can afford- with decision makers working on site collaboratively in this fast paced but supportive environment. This is a small team where individual’s contributions are highly valued and colleagues are encouraged to make an impact on the running of the lab.  

Laboratory Technician Key responsibilities:

  • Perform chemical, physical and microbiological analyses on water samples
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Prepare reagents and standards for use in testing procedures
  • Record and interpret test results accurately and efficiently
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory cleanliness and safety standards
  • Report results to clients
  • Assist in quality control documentation and processes

Laboratory Technician Key qualifications and experience:

  • Chemistry degree essential, with wet lab experience desirable
  • Microbiology laboratory experience desirable- but not essential
  • Experience running an ICP and an IC desirable- but not essential as training would be provided for the right candidate
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures

Laboratory Technician Pay and benefits

  • Some flexibility with hours worked, candidate can choose between a 36 or 40 hour week. This is then fixed.
  • Start and finish time dependent on hours worked, but lab operates between 8.00 and 5.15 Monday to Thursday and 8.00 until 3.00pm on a Friday.
  • Hourly rate competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience. Between £12.50 and £13.25 per hour (starting rate- with opportunities for career progression)
