Job Overview:

Equitas is seeking a passionate and dedicated Design Technology Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons across various areas of Design Technology, including Product Design, Resistant Materials, and Textiles. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to an outstanding school that encourages creativity and provides a challenging and supportive learning experience for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Design Technology to students at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
  • Develop and implement innovative schemes of work that challenge and engage students of all abilities.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Guide students in developing practical skills through the use of a variety of tools and materials.
  • Maintain and manage Design Technology department resources and equipment to ensure a safe, effective, and enjoyable learning environment.
  • Encourage a passion for Design Technology and creative problem-solving within the student body.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the department and across the wider school community.
  • Contribute to the extracurricular life of the school through clubs, trips, and events that enhance students’ learning experiences.
  • Uphold health and safety regulations within the department to ensure a safe working environment.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A degree in Design Technology or a related field.
  • Strong subject knowledge across a range of Design Technology disciplines.
  • Previous experience of teaching Design Technology at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is advantageous).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and engage students.
  • A passion for teaching and encouraging creativity in students.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • A commitment to the values and ethos of the school, including fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
