About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our team at an independent SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Wythenshawe, Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic, supportive environment where your teaching will make a real difference to the lives of young people with complex emotional and mental health needs.

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of students in small classes. You will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their academic potential, as well as helping them develop the skills they need to thrive socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to students with SEMH needs, ensuring an engaging and inclusive approach.
  • Develop and implement individual learning plans (ILPs) for students, tailored to their specific needs.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that fosters learning, confidence, and personal growth.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and their families.
  • Work closely with the pastoral team to support the emotional well-being of students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create and implement effective teaching strategies and resources.
  • Promote a positive approach to behavior management and help students develop social and emotional skills.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified English Teacher with QTS (or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching in an SEMH or alternative provision setting (preferred, but not essential).
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and a creative approach to delivering lessons.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with young people with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to working as part of a supportive team.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students who may face challenges in their learning and personal development.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
