About the Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join our team at an independent SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Wythenshawe, Manchester. As a Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to students with complex emotional and mental health needs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and accessible Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a focus on practical and experiential learning.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans (ILPs) tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and student well-being.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and adapting lessons accordingly.
  • Work closely with colleagues to create a holistic approach to student development, both academically and emotionally.
  • Promote positive behavior management strategies and provide pastoral support for students as needed.
  • Ensure that all students are provided with the support necessary to thrive in their education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Science Teacher with QTS (or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching in a secondary school setting, ideally with SEMH or alternative provision experience (preferred, but not essential).
  • Strong subject knowledge in Science and a creative approach to delivering engaging lessons.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching students with emotional and mental health challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.
