We are recruiting for a 1:1 Secondary Teaching Assistant to start ASAP on a full time & long term basis at a secondary school in the Trafford area, catering for children aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).
The finer details:
- 1:1 support for Year 11 male pupil with SEMH needs.
- Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:30pm.
- Pay up to £100/day DOE, for the first 12 weeks.
- Equal pay to perm staff from 13th week onwards.
- Paid PAYE via Tradewind, we don't use third party umbrella pay companies!
- Could go perm eventually for the right person.
- Opportunities for ongoing training and development.

- 15 mins walk from metrolink station.
Role & responsibilities:
- 1:1 Secondary Teaching Assistant with Year 11 pupil with SEMH needs.
- You will need to combine learning & pastoral support with behaviour management.
- The role is varied as no two days are the same. They have shorter lessons and small groups. They use a varied curriculum utilising many vocational subjects to engage students in areas that they are most interested in.
- The role requires a strong amount of patience, resilience, perseverance and empathy.
- Support with numeracy and literacy which is embedded into each lesson.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, collaborative and positive working environment.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the team including other teaching assistants and teachers, senior leaders, heads of departments, parents and carers, social workers and other members of the child's multidisciplinary team.

To join us and be successful in this 1:1 Secondary Teaching Assistant role in the Trafford area, you will need to:
- Have an enhanced DBS certificate that is on the Update Service (or be happy to pay for a new one).
- Minimum of two professional references checks.
- Provide a CV with full education & work.
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
- Some experience supporting children with special needs.
- Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable).
