Milk Education are recruiting for dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our secondary schools in Greater Manchester to work on a long-term or short-term basis. The role is to start ASAP.

HLTA Role & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, adapting teaching resources to meet the diverse needs of students. Lead small group interventions and deliver targeted support for students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Support the teacher in maintaining an effective, safe, and inclusive classroom environment. Help to manage student behaviour and ensure that students are on task and engaged in their learning.
  • Continue to develop your skills and knowledge in line with the HLTA standards and school policies. Engage in relevant training and professional development to support your career progression.
  • Provide administrative support as needed, such as preparing teaching materials, supporting the teacher with classroom organization, and assisting with school events and activities.

HLTA Non-negotiables:

  • A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent, or substantial experience working as a teaching assistant at a senior level.
  • Experience working with secondary school students, ideally in a mainstream or SEN context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
