About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Roofing and Construction Buyer to join a dynamic team in the roofing and construction industry. This role will involve managing the procurement of materials and services for roofing and construction projects, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of resources needed to meet project specifications and deadlines.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Management: Oversee the purchasing process for all roofing and construction materials, including tiles, slates, membrane systems, fixings, insulation, and other project-specific materials.
  • Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring competitive pricing, timely deliveries, and high-quality products.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and manage procurement budgets for multiple projects, ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory levels of key materials, ensuring adequate supply for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Contract Negotiations: Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure optimal value.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all purchased materials meet industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Project Support: Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to understand material requirements for each project.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchasing activity, supplier performance, and material usage, providing regular reports as required.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a buyer or procurement specialist in the construction or roofing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of roofing materials, construction methods, and supply chains.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a focus on building long-term supplier relationships.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in the construction industry is beneficial.
