A Primary School in Openshaw are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their dynamic and supportive team at. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, particularly in a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Assist with the development and implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs) tailored to students' needs.
- Support students in their academic and social development, ensuring that they are able to access the curriculum.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment where students can thrive.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to track student progress and provide feedback.
- Help manage and support behavior using positive reinforcement strategies.
- Ensure the emotional well-being of students is prioritized and provide a listening ear where necessary.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEND and SEMH needs (within a school setting preferred).
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with children, staff, and parents.
- An understanding of child development and behavior management strategies.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent would be advantageous.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- Experience in supporting students with autism, ADHD, or other specific learning needs.
- Knowledge of relevant educational resources and strategies for supporting SEMH students.
- Team player who is proactive and adaptable in meeting the needs of the school and students.
