About the Role:

Manchester City Council (MCC) is seeking two Personal Advisors to join our Leaving Care Service immediately. This service supports young people aged 16-25 who have been or are currently looked after by MCC, helping them transition to independent living.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload and keep accurate records.
  • Contribute to and review Pathway Plans.
  • Assess and support young people resuming education/training or with other needs post-21 years.
  • Promote welfare and consider young people’s views in planning.
  • Provide flexible advice and practical support.
  • Coordinate services and ensure young people use them.
  • Identify and supervise support packages.
  • Ensure financial support and help develop financial management skills.
  • Advise on and support access to accommodation.
  • Work with various agencies for integrated support.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Technical Requirements:
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Children Act 1989, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000).
    • Willingness to undergo a DBS check.
    • Full driving license and daily access to a vehicle.
