Ackerman Pierce are looking to recruit a Service Manager for an Early Help Team within the Social Care industry in Manchester. The Service Manager vacancy within Manchester will be for an initial 3-6 months with potential for extension subject to internal circumstance and your performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • The post holder will work collaboratively with key partners across health, police, education, social care and the voluntary sector to explore and establish creative ways of delivering high quality responsive services that support families and prevent needs and risks escalating therefore reducing the need for statutory services.
  • Candidate will be along side SUM, managing Early Help and Family Support at L2 & L3 (early help, prior to CP)
  • Candidate will not be managing social workers and social care teams
  • Candidates must have strong leadership, management and supervision experience
  • Candidate will be able to support staff on thresholds and risk management and must have experience of safety planning
  • Candidates are not suitable if worked the back end of social care.

About you

  • You will be responsible for the Family Help service and any relevant teams identified by the Head of Service. You will play a key role in developing a workforce that is equipped to deliver efficient, timely and high-quality services to children, young people, and their families.
  • The post holder will have responsibility for quality assuring the standard of work, driving changes necessary to improving practice that meet the expected standards of the Family Help Services.
  • Applicants will need previous experience and effective skills in leading and managing teams, good verbal and written communication skills, and be committed to achieving positive outcomes for young people, families to prevent escalation into statutory services..

Experience preferred:

  • Experience of working within as a Service Manager within the UK Social Care industry.

  • Well-structured organised team, growing their staffing levels

Minimum requirements:

  • 3 years' post qualifying experience in a similar role within the UK
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • DipSW/CQSW equivalent
