A fantastic new opportunity to join an established software house based in Manchester.
We're on the lookout for a Lead Software Engineer to take ownership of their customer facing portal, as well as the APIs that power it. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on impactful projects using a modern tech stack that includes JavaScript and TypeScript (Angular, with plans to transition to Vue.js), and a robust PHP backend using Laravel and Lumen frameworks.
The Role: As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading projects, steering architectural decisions, and ensuring the development of high-quality, scalable solutions. This hybrid position is based in Manchester near MediaCity, with flexible work-from-home options. You'll work closely with the Platform Team Lead, collaborating with an experienced engineering team to design, develop, and maintain essential management systems used for data insight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of web applications and APIs.
- Drive technical strategy and mentor team members to uphold coding standards and best practices.
- Understand and translate user requirements into technical specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, UX, and operations.
- Identify potential risks and devise effective mitigation strategies.
- Proactively plan for maintenance and improvements in coordination with the team lead.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration processes.
About You: The ideal candidate is an experienced and adaptable developer who thrives in collaborative environments and takes pride in delivering high-quality solutions. You should have:
- Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript (Angular framework; familiarity with Vue.js is a plus).
- Proficient PHP skills, with experience in Laravel/Lumen frameworks.
- Comprehensive understanding of system architecture, design principles, and development best practices.
- Familiarity with AWS, serverless technologies, and coding standards.
- Effective communication skills to convey complex technical ideas clearly.
- Proven ability to lead projects and guide team members towards shared goals.
