Are you an experienced Software Engineer with expertise in iSeries (AS/400 / RPG) looking for your next opportunity? I'm seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer with IBM iSeries experience to join an innovative team in the North West. With the flexibility to work mostly remotely, this role offers a fantastic balance of work-life integration and exciting challenges.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be critical in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions on the iSeries platform. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure that their systems remain robust, efficient, and aligned with business goals.

Experience Required:

• Proven experience as a Software Engineer, specifically with iSeries (AS/400).
• Deep programming skills in one or more of the following: RPG/400, RPGLE, AS400, SYNON-RPG,
• Ideally some experience in some of the following: Structured Query Language (SQL), Java, HTML5, JavaScript, Flex, ActionScript, DB2, Oracle, Active Directory, Delphi.
• Solid understanding of Design Patterns.
• Ability to write automated unit tests and integration tests where applicable.
• Strong Object-Oriented Design skills (planning a system of interacting objects).
• Experience with complex refactoring techniques.
• Familiarity with Pair Programming (an agile software development technique).
• Solid knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment techniques.
• Strong proficiency in RPG, CL, and SQL programming languages.
• Experience with system integration and database management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in Agile methodologies is a plus.

Role Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and implement software solutions on the iSeries (AS/400) platform.
• Develop software following the approach defined within the Software Development Process to an exceptional level of quality.
• Work closely with Solution Architects and Business Analysts in requirements gathering and refinement and solution design.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure project deliverables meet expectations.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices relevant to iSeries development.

For this role, you must currently be based in the UK and have full rights to work.

The client is looking to pay up between £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience + benefits and offers remote working.
