Software Development Manager, Greater Manchester, £85,000 + Bonus

Our client, an international & highly regarded SaaS company, is seeking a Software Development Manager to drive the development and success of their niche Platform. This role will oversee the development of a range of Products used by customers across North America and Europe. The Development Manager will be instrumental in ensuring these products meet high standards for performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Role Overview:

As the Development Manager, you’ll lead and develop the Product team’s technical roadmap, working closely with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to drive growth and meet client needs. You'll manage a team of skilled software developers (developing with Java, C++ & JavaScript amongst other techs), guiding them through the design and development of new features while upholding platform compatibility and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Agile Development: Lead Agile processes to continuously improve and develop the Scheduling suite.
  • Software Engineering: Day-to-day leadership of Software Developers (Java, C++, JavaScript) as well as long-term career development.
  • Technical Strategy: Collaborate with Product Managers to design technical solutions aligned with customer requirements and business growth.
  • Product Oversight: Oversee the development of core Software Products.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering and QA to enhance testing strategies, accelerating delivery.
  • Quality Control: Approve code, resolve production issues, and ensure adherence to SLAs and security standards.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and manage a diverse team of onshore and offshore developers, fostering best practices in software development.

Expertise / experience needed:

  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise software development.
  • Expertise in Java, JavaScript frameworks, and knowledge of C++.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Proven track record in delivering cloud-based SaaS solutions and managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Skilled in Service-Oriented Architecture and developing Single Page Applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, managing cross-functional teams and external partners effectively.
