Role Overview:We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join the team. You will be supporting a Year 1 student with autism, helping them thrive academically and socially in a mainstream classroom setting. Your role will involve providing tailored support, promoting independence, and assisting with personal care needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the individual learning and social development of the student.
  • Assist with personal care, ensuring the child feels comfortable and supported.
  • Implement strategies outlined in the student's Education Healthcare Plan.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to adapt activities and lessons.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and communicate effectively with parents and staff.
  • Promote the child's independence and self-confidence.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with children with autism or special educational needs is essential.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently when required.
