SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Secondary School in TamesideImmediate Start | Full-Time | Competitive Salary

Tradewind Recruitment is proud to be recruiting for a passionate and experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive Secondary School in Tameside. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to helping students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) reach their full potential. The position starts ASAP.

The RoleAs a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will play an integral role in supporting students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties, and behavioural challenges. Working under the guidance of the school's SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff, you will help create a nurturing, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND, both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Assisting students with their academic work, helping to break down tasks and explain concepts to promote understanding.
  • Supporting students' emotional and social development, encouraging positive behaviour and helping them to engage fully with their education.
  • Adapting learning materials and resources to suit individual students' needs and learning styles.
  • Monitoring students' progress and liaising with teachers, the SENCo, and other professionals to ensure each student's individual learning plan (ILP) is followed effectively.
  • Supporting students in managing their behaviours, using appropriate strategies and interventions when needed.

Person SpecificationWe are looking for an empathetic and proactive individual who:

  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND, preferably within a school setting.
  • Is patient, caring, and capable of building strong relationships with students who have a variety of additional needs.
  • Is flexible and able to adapt their approach to meet the diverse needs of students on a day-to-day basis.
  • Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and is able to work collaboratively with teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students.
  • Holds a relevant qualification in SEND or is willing to undertake further training.
