Learning MentorSalary         £24,225 - £27,325 (actual salary) depending upon experience Location:    Manchester Hours:        Monday to Friday 8.45am - 4.30pm (term time only)Start date:  3rd February 2025Meridian Business Support are working on behalf of an Academy trust who provides full time education for pupils who are permanently excluded, at risk of permanent exclusion or are otherwise unable to access a mainstream curriculumTheir aim is to match provision closely to the needs of individual children and young people referred to them by schools, academies or the local authority.  The schools are looking to appoint committed and enthusiastic individuals to undertake the role of Learning Mentors.Role responsibilities
  • To assist the teacher to ensure a safe classroom and outdoor environment, checking materials and personal equipment for defects and implement risk assessments carried out by the teacher according to school guidelines. This will include cleaning equipment used by pupils and ensuring its accessibility.
  • Provide pastoral support to pupils
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance as required.
  • To liaise with therapists, medical staff, and other personnel working with pupils as required, assisting with the coordinating and planning of programmes of work and to integrate specialist advice and practice into ILPs.
  • Liaise with schools and other relevant bodies to gather pupil information
  • Support pupils’ access to learning using appropriate strategies and resources
  • Work with the teacher in planning, evaluating and adjusting learning activities as appropriate
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through observation and planned recording of achievement against predetermined learning objectives
  • Under the direction of the teacher, prepare classroom for lessons, including display and clear afterwards, as appropriate.

  • Previous experience working with children with additional needs, ideally SEMH, Autism and ADHD
  • Positive, flexible, patient and resilient
  • Committed to helping every student to achieve their potential
  • Can build and maintain good relationships with teachers, students and parents
  • Has good GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics
  • Has strong ICT skills
  • A DBS on the update service or be willing to have a new one processed
  • Is willing and able to drive across the city of Manchester to different locations.
