The company: A well established Industrial & Commercial construction company with a nationwide presence are looking to bring a Senior Estimator in to the business. Their aim is to deliver high quality industrial and commercial building projects. They undertake a wide rang of projects such as - new build, extension, refurbishment and building facade projects in key market sectors, delivering them through a wide range of procurement routes from traditional to turnkey design and build.

The role: As Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for new build commercial and industrial projects, cladding remediation on live developments, and high-risk high-rise building retrofits. This role will involve leading the estimating function, ensuring competitive and profitable tender submissions while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and commercial viability.

Key responsibilities - 
•Prepare and submit detailed cost estimates and tenders in line with project specifications, client requirements, and company objectives.
•Analyse project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate take-offs and cost assessments.
•Review tender documents, compile enquiries, and prepare take-offs.
•Analyse supply chain tender returns and prepare tender submissions using estimating software.
•Lead the pricing strategy, ensuring profitability and competitiveness.
•Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
•Conduct risk analysis and value engineering assessments to optimise project cost and efficiency.
•Work closely with the commercial team, project managers, and site teams to ensure seamless project execution.
•Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry costs, trends, and material prices.
•Provide cost advice and feasibility assessments for potential projects.
•Ensure all tender submissions meet company, client, and legislative requirements.
•Attend client and design team meetings, presenting estimates and offering expert advice.

•Support junior estimators and contribute to the ongoing development of the estimating function.
•Manage and direct the estimating assistant and identify upcoming tender leads.

Additional Duties -

•Assist in post-tender negotiations and securing projects.
•Support the preparation of contracts and procurement processes.
•Maintain accurate records of tenders, costs, and historical data.
•Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
•Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems.
•Attend pre-tender meetings, contractor days, and site visits.
•Prepare internal QA handover packs and attend pre-start meetings after contract awards.
•Address post-tender queries, prepare budget costings, and assist with sales and estimating documentation.
