Sustainability Advisor

Greater Manchester - Hybrid

£27,000 - £30,000 + benefits

Our client, a FTSE100 supplier to the retail industry now has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Advisor to join their team.

**Would suit a Sustainability graduate (with some experience) or candidates from a Buying or Sales background with an interest in sustainability**

Job Purpose:

The Sustainability Advisor will support the delivery of our clients sustainability services and product solutions. Reporting to the Senior Sustainability Co-Ordinator, the role will support the delivery of sustainability projects which will typically focus on legislation, customer targets and sustainability objectives. The role requires a person who is structured, organised and proactive. This role will be suitable for candidates who have a genuine interest in sustainability and are looking to apply their existing experience and analytical skill set to deliver results.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support data requirements for environmental management processes. This may include direct liaison with Suppliers to ensure compliance with and accuracy in data collection process.
  • Share insights gained from data analysis with the Procurement Team to support the delivery of sustainable improvements in product solutions (eg EPR mitigation).
  • Provide administrative support to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Collate key sustainability data and information to inform reports and Life Cycle Assessment.
  • Support in the delivery of projects to comply with upcoming sustainability legislations.
  • Support ongoing development of reporting processes in line with legislative requirement (Extended Producer Responsibility, Waste Packaging (PRN), Market Restrictions etc).
  • Analyse large data sets confidently using Microsoft Excel
  • Respond to emails and other requests, offering advice and support on environmental issues, or passing on complex requests to other team members, as appropriate.
  • Assist with the preparation and production of sustainability reports where required.
  • Support data collation and idea creation supporting social value initiatives.
  • Support with information gathering for tender submissions, creation of internal and external resources and other sustainability related requirements.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Effective numeracy, literacy, and word processing skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel (eg pivot tables, Lookups).
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication skills with strong analytical skills.
  • Organised and efficient with excellent administrative skills.
  • Diligent and methodical approach towards timely completion of tasks.
  • Together with line manager, sets objectives, establishes priorities, and develops plans.
  • Arranges work schedules and prioritises work to meet deadlines. Seeks clarification and approval where appropriate before commences new projects or working methods.
  • Proactive and supportive to the needs of colleagues and the wider business.
  • Motivated, confident, and able to build strong relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external.
