I am currently recruiting for an independent transport planning consultancy that are looking for a Principal Transport Planner to join their Leeds or Manchester City Centre offices. They are looking for a Principal Transport Planner with over 6 years experience that covers Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Local Plans, Transport Strategies, Traffic Management Plans and Access Studies.

The perfect candidates will also have experience of traffic modelling using Junctions 9 software's (ARCADY, PICARDY & OSCADY). This will hugely benefit you in this role. As a Senior Transport Planner you will take a leading role working with clients such as Hoteliers, Golf Course Developers, Motorway Services and residential house builders to name a few. These clients span across the UK with projects being spread across their Manchester and Leeds offices.

Principal Transport Planner Responsibilities:

  • Obtaining, analysing and interpreting traffic and transport data from a range of external sources;
  • Appraising development sites in terms of their accessibility by a range of transport modes;
  • Undertaking junction capacity assessments;
  • Day-to-day technical input into projects as well as project management of smaller development proposals;
  • Inputting to masterplan and junction designs; and
  • Attending and contributing to design team and client meetings.

Principal Transport Planner Requirements:

  • A degree qualification in a relevant field;
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principles of transport planning;
  • Excellent presentation and technical writing skills; and
  • The ability to manage their own time to meet project deadlines;
  • The ability to develop and run traffic models using Junctions software;
  • An understanding of the application of highway design standards and guidance.
  • Technical experience, including proficiency with relevant industry software e.g. TRICS, TEMPRO.
