Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a School Food and Art Technician to join a dynamic and forward-thinking secondary school in Manchester on an immediate basis. This is a full-time, temporary role that will provide support to both the Food Technology and Art departments, ensuring the smooth running of lessons and practical activities.

About the Role

As a School Food and Art Technician, your role will be pivotal in supporting the smooth delivery of both Food Technology and Art lessons. You will work closely with the teaching staff to prepare resources, manage equipment, and assist with practical sessions, ensuring that students have everything they need to succeed.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and resources for practical Food Technology and Art lessons.
  • Assisting with the day-to-day running of both departments, ensuring that all resources are organised and well-maintained.
  • Supporting students during practical lessons, offering guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment and workspaces to ensure health and safety standards are met.
  • Ordering and organising supplies, ensuring departments are well-stocked with necessary materials.
  • Assisting with the display of students' artwork around the school and helping with preparation for school exhibitions.
  • Collaborating with teaching staff to ensure all activities run smoothly and students have a positive learning experience.
  • Contributing to the creation of a vibrant, creative atmosphere within both departments.
About You

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working in a school or educational setting as a Technician, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar role.
  • A solid understanding of both Food Technology and Art (previous experience in these areas is desirable).
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety procedures, particularly in relation to food preparation and art materials.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to support students in both one-to-one and group settings.
  • A passion for supporting students in their practical learning experiences.
