A rapidly expanding, successful group that encompasses all aspects of the meat trade is recruiting a cold store operative to join our day shift at our site in Irlam, Manchester.

Our business, which is a catering butcher, has over 100 years of experience in the meat and farming industries. All products are prepared in the factory daily to each customer's specifications, packaged and labelled to and above legislation, and delivered directly throughout the UK.

About the Role

The purpose and main responsibilities of this cold store operative role are to ensure the movement of goods in and out of the cold store and manage the stock rotation.

Working closely with the purchasing, technical, and management teams, this role is key to delivering stock and managing the transit of stock throughout the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Stock rotation and stock management of all goods
  • Stock replenishment
  • Manually breaking down pallets
  • Ensuring traceability systems are managed and controlled
  • QA/QC of all deliveries, ensuring the quality/weight is to agreed orders and specifications
  • Ensuring tempering systems are managed and controlled
  • Be responsible for the health and safety of yourself and others involved in their working area.

Shift Information
  • Dayshifts: 07.00-17.00, Monday to Friday. One Saturday every 6 weeks, 07.00-12.00, plus flexibility to meet business demands.
Essential Skills

No formal qualifications are required for this role, and full training will be provided.

Desirable Skills
  • Experience working in a factory, production, and sausage production environment would be advantageous but not essential, as full training will be given.
  • You should have good numeracy and literacy and be able to work individually and as part of a team in a very busy environment.
  • You need to be able to work to tight deadlines.
  • FLT Licence
