Company Overview

Are you an experienced Technical Manager looking for your next challenge? We are recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 Main Contractor for a permanent role working across the Yorkshire Water and United Utilities Framework. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the delivery of high-profile water infrastructure projects across AMP8.

The Role:

As Technical Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design process, program of works, allocations of work and ensuring the designs are on time, within cost and to the correct spec. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, operational and commercial teams, and external stakeholders, to coordinate design activities from tender through to construction. This role demands strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of water sector projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies including in-depth consideration of various alternatives and options to find the best/preferred solution
  • Ensure that the design solution is fully understood by engaging with the client and then to use your experience of asset management to offer solutions
  • Leading and managing the design interfaces for the construction and commissioning of several up-grades and potentially new treatment works for the supply area during AMP8
  • Spearhead and optimise the engineering assurance process for designs prepared by partner at outline design and capital delivery partners at tender and construction design
  • Ensure that the Engineering Design team, design consultants and construction partners develop technically and economically proficient engineering solutions
  • Lead on client engagement, design management, project delivery and health & safety

Key Requirements:

  • Significant, proven relevant engineering design, construction and management experience
  • Experience of working in asset management or similar position
  • Experience of managing and driving a multi-discipline technical/engineering team with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets
  • Significant knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes
