Fully remote role with option to work in the office if you like Our client, A UK-based nonprofit organisation is looking for a Web Developer to join their mission-driven team working to improve the public information environment. The role offers the opportunity to shape a key public-facing website and ensure its infrastructure is robust, accessible, and effective.

You’ll play a key role in transitioning the organisation from Django CMS to Wagtail and enhancing the functionality of its website and internal tools. The role is primarily backend-focused but offers scope for full stack work depending on your interests and strengths.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition from Django CMS to Wagtail CMS (near completion).

  • Develop and maintain new features and functionality for the website.

  • Make backend architectural decisions to support scalability and maintainability.

  • Provide occasional user support for internal Wagtail users (training, documentation, troubleshooting).

  • Collaborate with internal teams to design user-focused digital solutions.

  • Occasionally work across the stack and with external systems (e.g. Salesforce CRM).

  • Contribute to project scoping and technical planning.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills:

  • Strong professional experience with Django, Python, and PostgreSQL.

  • Proficiency with version control tools, especially Git/GitHub.

  • Ability to translate technical requirements into effective solutions.

  • Understanding of front-end fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JS) and web standards.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Wagtail CMS.

  • Front-end development skills.

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and server management.

  • Experience with Agile workflows.

Personal Attributes:

  • A commitment to political neutrality and sensitivity to the UK public debate context.

  • Clear communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
