Are you an experienced Outdoor Education provider looking for work in Nottingham?

Winner Education are seeking an Adventure Group Tutor to work an outdoor education provision in an independent special educational needs school who are also market leaders in alternative provisions in the East Midlands. This role is a full-time permanent position to start as soon as possible. The ideal candidate must have previous experience within special needs, and you must enjoy outdoor activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, caving and hiking.

 

SALARY: Up to £26,000

LOCATION: Mansfield, Nottingham

HOURS: Full time (Monday – Friday), term time only

START DATE: ASAP

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To support and maintain a high level of learner engagement through preparation and delivery of an innovative, creative and flexible Outdoor Education curriculum
  • To use collaborative, multi-sensory and holistic approaches to deliver an educational provision
  • Support with young people in small group settings or on a 1:1 basis at a variety of learning hubs within an agreed locality.
  • Support the delivery of all levels of course within Outdoor Education department

  • Act in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures under the guidance of the designated Provision Manager
  • Encourage learner independence in decision making
  • Assist with the assessment, preparation, delivery and review of all learner’s curriculum including lesson plans and schemes of work
  • Be aware of all safeguarding procedures on a day to day basis
  • Be responsible for all aspects of learner health and safety, informing the designated Outdoor Education Provision Manager of any accidents or identified risks
  • Support the Outdoor Education Provision Manager to ensure venues used are appropriate and risk assessed, and that Health and Safety guidance supplied by the company is adhered to
  • Support the Outdoor Education Provision Manager with the collection and collation of pupil information including learner profiles, pen pictures, risk management procedures and special educational needs and suitably differentiate your delivery to meet the identified needs.
  • Support Outdoor Education Provision Manager with the completion of all assessments, pupil tracking documents, progress reports and feedback reports to commissioning bodies e.g. Education, Health and Care plans, KS3 & KS4 transition planning, and post 16 opportunities.

 

The successful Adventure Group Tutor must:

  • Be flexible and innovative
  • Previous experience and awareness of working in an outdoor environment
  • Working with children, young people or vulnerable adults within an education setting
  • Demonstrate knowledge regarding teaching practice for young people with additional needs
  • Demonstrate a variety of IT skills
  • Hold an Outdoor specific qualification
  • Hold a current and valid UK driving licence
  • Provide an environment which will make a real difference to the lives of young people
  • Hold key values and ethos of Trust, Innovation and Achievement
