Role Overview:

As a Science Technician, you will be responsible for providing technical support to the science department, ensuring that practical lessons are delivered smoothly and safely. This role is essential in creating an engaging and safe learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, set up, and test laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons.
• Assist teachers during practical lessons, ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed.
• Maintain and organise laboratory equipment, chemicals, and supplies.
• Conduct regular safety checks and ensure compliance with COSHH and other safety regulations.
• Dispose of hazardous materials safely and responsibly.
• Support the science department with administrative tasks, including stock management and record-keeping.

Candidate Requirements:

Experience:

• Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a similar laboratory role.
• Familiarity with KS3 and KS4 science curricula is desirable.

Skills:

• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow health and safety protocols and handle chemicals responsibly.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to supporting teachers and students.

Training/Knowledge:

• Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and equipment.
• Understanding of COSHH and other safety regulations.
